The 10 essentials in my makeup bag

I've been lugging around the weight-equivalent of a small child thanks to my hefty makeup bag. Do I really need three different blue eyeliners for a weekend away? No, no I don't.

So I decided to streamline and, drums please, I've whittled my makeup bag down to just TEN essential products!

Now I can fit everything into a smaller, travel-friendly bag and I don't spend hours rummaging around trying to find what I actually need each morning. More time for work coffee!

Moisturising is at the top of my beauty to do list so I'll start there.

Elemis Maximum Moisture Day Cream [£38] It's SO expensive for a little pot (wah face) but I really, really rate this and use it every morning. My skin is super sensitive and this feels nourishing, smells incredible and lasts all day. Sometimes I don't bother with makeup when I'm working from home and will just let this bad boy work its magic.

L'Occitane Pure Shea Butter [£28.50] I warm a touch of this in the palm of my hand and then smooth it on any areas of dry skin. I find it particularly useful in the winter when I'm dealing with the annual face ache. Plus it lasts forevs.

Carmex Lip Balm [£2.69] Really, why wouldn't you? This is categorically the best lip balm ever to have been made ever. Ever. It's packed with natural moisturisers like cocoa butter and it keeps your lips smooth all day erry day.

Aveeno Moisturising Cream [£5.69] A skin specialist recommended this to me when I was, you guessed it, wanging on about my winter face ache. It's not a luxe product but it's rich and hot damn, does it get the job done. I use it at night so it can soothe while I'm snoozing.

As for my makeup, I like to keep it quick and simple.

Mac Pro Longwear Concealer [£17] I love this little pot of wonder. It's light but don't be fooled, it also packs a punch… evening out skin tone, hiding blemishes, lightening dark circles AND a little goes a long way.

YSL Touche Eclat [£25] A CLASSIC! I'll say no more.

Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara [£4.99] After I've curled my eyelashes I whip on a layer or two of this guy in 'very black', which doesn't clump and gives great definition. I buy the waterproof version for two reasons. 1. So I don't have mascara down my face every single time I laugh-cry. 2. For some reason it holds the curl of my lashes better.

Mac Powder Blush in Melba [£18] A little colour pop makes my skin feel / look fresher.

Mac Bronzing Powder in Matte Bronze [£21] I dust this along my forehead and down my nose to boost my colour though I don't always use it in the winter because I think bronzer looks better on a natural tan.

Vaseline Lip Therapy with Cocoa Butter [£2.18] I prefer to leave my eyelids clear for daytime so I just slick a little bit of this over my lids to add a dewy glow.

That's it, all done!
